Got a parts rig that I had planned to move this past weekend. Had previously removed d.shaft and yoke. Guess I stuck different yoke back on rear diff but never put on spacer and stake nut. began rolling cruiser to and now rear diff binds up.

What likely slipped out of place when I moved with diff output shaft being loose?

Can I fix if I take inspection plate off...I don't have time to pull axles and all that...got to move by this weekend.

Thanks...

It sounds like the ring gear sucked-in your pinion when the diff rotated. Depending on where the carrier is on its rotation, you might be able to confirm this by looking in through the rear cover. Not sure you could fix the problem from back there, but once the cover's off, it's another 5-10 minutes to pull the axles.

Front wheel drive.

The nut that holds the yoke on also holds the pinion in place. Nut goes on end of pinion gear. Without the yoke and nut, the pinion slips down and binds against the ring gear. Slide the pinion back out, put the yoke and nut back on and you should be good to go.
