Everything I have read says that this is an impossible option on my LC. Is there a visual check that can tell me if the truck is truly equipped with the locking rear diff? When I turn the switch I can hear something happening in the back of the truck. Thanks in advance!

Could be some swapped in a 98/99 axle or added an aftermarket locker (ARB/Harrop). Axle would have a locker motor on the PS if it's the factory locker, and would be tapped for an air line or wiring if ARB or e-locker. I'd guess electronic as I don't see a compressor switch as well.

I'm thinking they installed an aftermarket e-locker like the Harrop and then bought the OEM Locker switch and wired it up for the factory look. That's what I'd do if I were installing an e-locker on mine. Of course an axle swap as you mentioned could be likely as well.

Some how my 2004 has this. :<)

True. Just being funny. Controls the Arb lockers. Thank you slee.

That's an 80-series switch. 100 switch just has "RR" on it, for rear, no front.
Or a 105 series in non US markets up to 8/2007
The 100 series, rear only switch possibly up to 8/2002 in US markets, UZJ100L-GNPEKA, and up to 8/2007 in other markets.
Whilst it may not have been an order option, perhaps some snuck through, or this particular one was modified at some point. How many miles, what history?

A04A Gear code - Can't find anything 100 series specific on codes, Slee may have them, interesting note, I have found a couple of instances of this axle code in a tacoma/4runner forum member posts his A04A code as having an e-locker and 4.3 ratio. Doesn't mean this one is original though. The parts reference for that VIN shows, std, LSD, or elocker 4 pinion diffs for 02/2002>08/02002, but this doesn't mean they were all available in the USA market. Anybody else have a 2002 want to post up their month/year and axle codes plate specs?
