I too have thought about this... Something on the floor.
I road trip with 3 kids in the middle bench seat and one in the third row. We empty the center console and it fits 3 cups. Works for us.
My Pathfinder had a great cupholder built into the back of the center console. If you're willing to cut out a square in the back and custom fit this might work.
It was also an easy reach from the driver's seat so I could put oversized beverages in them.
A quick Amazon search also yielded this. I don't have any experience with it, but it looks like a decent temporary solution.

found a guy on FB, he says he sells on the GX470 FB group. he sells a full replacement for the center console cup holders. they are nylon 3d printed.
60 dollars shipped.
but he is working on rear cup holders that replace the ash trays in the back.
