Can we get a shot of what it looks at the fender well? If you were driving, stopped, got out, turned to face the rear driver's side tire, squatted down and then snapped a pic. I am interested in seeing how it looks from the edge that runs to the fender (the edge facing forward and looking straight at the tire. Thanks!

I'll see if mike can get some when he ets back in town... about a week from now. but its finished out in 1" flat bar arched to match the fender well. Looks nice and is a fairly standard look... I matched it to the ARB front on his truck.

Here are more pics.

Thanks! Looks like your guy took his time to finish off the fender well portion. There are other rear bumpers out there where the fender well area is kind of an eye sore due to the metal not being "capped" as it terminates.

Are you talking about the folded edge that turns into the wheel well? What bumpers have you seen with an unfunished edge? Im attaching a pic of my front as another example of what i think you are referring to.

Yeah, I didn't want to name names as BIO is a sturdy well-made bumper but I wish they would finish off the fender area. Not only for looks but to help keep dirt from building up back there. I wanted to say something about that area on the GB thread but decided against it b/c I didn't want to come across as biased. Is there any way to use the rear mudflap tops to cover that area up?

Not really, but I am planning to screw on a cheap rubber mud flap. I prefer, since the won't crush on rocks.

Back on topic...

I can see why Mikes bumper should be like that. He might be using a different way of reinforcing the bumper. You obviously can't tighten those exposed bolts if it was covered there, unless it has a welded nut on one side. But then another issue would be the welded nut facing corrosion or being dislodged like the one on the front frame mount. Dirt can obviously get trapped in either bumper, but the BIOR makes it easy to clean if the drain holes(like the ones I saw on some bumpers from Mike) have the drain holes on the bottom. Good design, or I may be biased...rant over lol

"If it aint broke, dont fix it" ;)

Have you seen this bumper in person and checked underneath or are you just making an assumption? With your reasoning, why on Earth would 99% of SUVs even come with those pesky mudflaps and fender well linings? Shucks, we could just keep those areas open to make them "easier to clean". Aren't you going with the high clearance model so that you can match your extreme water forging snorkel while you are on all of your holding tank observation "runs"?

It obviously has to attach to the frame so wouldn't it stand to reason that those exposed bolts could be tightened followed by the frame bolts? On my bumper, the metal is formed in such a manner that mud and debris kicked up on the trail doesn't go into a "shelf".

Now if there were a mod to cover it up...

Not trying to slam the bumper, its just the person representing it is not qualified (IMHO) to laud it's accolades seeing his very limited off road experience and his knack for making unsound build decisions.

For reference, here is a competitor's bumper:

I think I'll just ask Mike to add a piece like that, or if he can't do it, i'll get a local shop to do it. I agree it should be covered. I don't want a squirrel to make a nest in my bumper, that's a major life fear of mine. It's hard enough making it through this life without a family of squirrels freeloading rides in my bumper.

This was pretty harsh...

This is just a feeler, I'm not selling these... thus I am not "pimping". If I do start a group buy or start production, or make another I will become a vendor. But I want to make sure there is a good market for these before waisting my time.

If you decide to do some more, I'm very interested and I'm in MS so I could come pick it up. I'd want one exactly like the one you made. Especially at that $950 price:clap:

As an update, I asked Mike to include this, and he is going to add it to his bumper for $50. He is also going to make it so it screws on and off so I can still access those other two screws. Once I receive my bumper I'll post photos.

Ask and ye shall receive!

For those who want to close off the BIOR bolt-on bumper, there are a couple of options. Like saillaw shared, $50 will get you either a finished end or a removable end with tabs and bolts. Mike is also offering the end caps in raw metal for $20. I am going that route and will weld them on after I bolt on the bumper and do a couple of runs.

What did everyone with ARB rear bumpers do for a rear mud flap?

I havent seen the problem as others have with the open ends,on BIO bolt on bumpers. One blast with pressure washer and cleans out very easy.Maybe, some one is worried about drag at highway speeds on these pigs.lol
