rear bumper ladder

A while back I saw a photo in the expedition section of a rear bumper (I think it was on a 80, but may have been a 60 or 62.) Anyway, it was a dual swing away design with a spare on one swing arm and it had a ladder to reach the roof rack on the other.

I'm getting ready to design a rear bumper for my 55, and wanted to get some ideas along those lines. If anyone has pics of a similar design, and maybe even a source for some prebuilt stuff I might be able to use I'd love to see it.

Luke at 4x4Labs sells a rear bumper kit which can include a ladder option. If you want to save some fabrication time I'm sure you could order the ladder alone and easily integrate it into your own design.

if you go the diy route. You may want to make the ladder a little shorter than I did, because the swing away has to be open slightly over 90degrees for the hatch to clear the ladder. Its kind of a pain sometimes.

Yes, all the inside storage is made of aluminum. It's also a dog barricade at the rear seat and at the sliding rear windows. I installed nutserts in the walls and floors for easy removal if need be, but it seldom gets removed.
