OK, so I redid my rear drum brakes. Replaced everything but the drums and backing plate. They worked fine at first and then every once in a while when I put it in reverse the brakes would grab. Then put it in drive and pull forward it would pull the brake off....put it back in reverse and sometimes it would grab again. I just snapped a couple pics so you can see how I put them together. I think I may have assembled the star adjuster incorrect because they are adjusted out a lot further than they were when I assembled it. They are adjusted out so far that both shoes won't touch the cylinder at the same time. Is it adjusting out more every time I put it in reverse? What did I do?

Adjusting the star is just to get you close then you want to pull up on the emergency brake and down a few times which adjust them. Did you measure your drums? There should be a stamp on them which says the min. inside diameter.

Do you realize the rearward brake shoe is missing the pin and spring that holds it against the backing plate? The front one has it (the green compression spring with the silver washer and the pin that comes through the backing plate. Both brake shoes should have that same assembly. I also don't see the return spring for the brake adjuster lever arm.

Actually I did realize that. When I removed the drum, the pads were dragging and it pulled the pin.
