So I changed the oil for the first time in my 40 last night (I bought it in Dec. and have only driven it about 10 miles in that time). So I'm at my parents house and my dad has a pan like this.

Well, I get under the 40 and notice the 27mm bolt. No big deal. Pan's ready. Take out the bolt and ALL the oil comes out of this cruiser at one time. WOW!!! Oil everywhere...

I got a little up my nose.

Have a great day laughing at my dumbness.

Hey Josh. Watch out. The oil comes out fast. Really fast.

Ask Heather how her adventure on Steve's pig went.

:beer::beer::beer:

A 5 gallon bucket works best. It it wont fit something with that sort of opening and as close to the pan as possible.

Thanks Marshall. I'll be sure to remember that! I'll bet those instructions and warnings are in that letter y'all never sent to me.:p

i can beat that..... 3rd time changing oil on my Dodge Cummins....12 quarts of oil. Lent my old pan to brother so bought a new one of different make.

Get it positions...take plug out middle of pan to allow oil to flow into it as it is a deep dish with single hole in middle at bottom. Drop plug into pan but not worried as there is a screen at bottom of hole......oil is pouring out but notice pan is not draining as fast as oil is coming from truck...cell rings...answer really quick and it is wife...trying to get off phone as oil is rising higher and higher in resevoir before going into storage area....I drop phone and say BYE...and notice my pan bolt is now standing up straight in oil. Before I know it I have about 6 quarts of dirty, black, nasty diesel engine oil running down driveway like the black demon from spiderman2.

after hours and hours of oil absorber, chemicals, power washing, etc.....i found that a couple things lined up better than a full eclipse to ruin my day. The drain plug in oil collector is the REAL SCREEN for drain plugs...the one at bottom is further down and bolt never reaches there it is just a back up for really small drain plugs. My Cummins drain plug fits perfectly in hole and if vertical will completely close off the ability to flow oil into storage and thereby clogging my intended storage location.

So after many many years of changing oil...that day Murphy hit me...and then had wife and 10 neighbors sitting in lawn chairs in yard drinkiing my beer while I soaked and shoveled and scrubbed and sprayed from 2pm until dark. LOL I can laugh now....at the time I was quite upset.

so yours is nothing in comparison...LOL Some idiot has always done something worse than you. I just proved it. LOL

Ok...my mess wasn't that big.

Heather and I both laughed hard when that happened! I guess I could have stopped taking pics and helped a little quicker! I don't think Heather expected anything less from me though... :grinpimp:

And that oil stain on my driveway has long since been eclipsed by many worse. :D

I had an oil change episode. You know that O-ring on the filter that Dad always told you to double check and make sure that it did indeed come off w/ the filter? Yeah, well, the one time I didn't check it cuz I was already stressed and frustrated w/ other stuff I was working on in the Jeep, the O-ring doesn't come off. So, I replace the filter w/ a new one on top of the old O-ring, fill it up w/ new oil and start it up. Sweet BRAND NEW Petroleum Honey comes pouring out. ALL OF IT! All over the the garage. Yeah, it sucks to have old oil to come pouring out, but it sucks pretty bad when you have to pay for two oil changes cuz you're dumb too. It sucked. I had to borrow a car, go get new oil AGAIN, clean up the mess and then replace what poured out. Yeah, I'm in Engineering and I are dumb.

...silly engineering majors...
