Order new oem shocks, they come with the rubber grommets, do I transfer over the metal retainers or just use the rubber? You can see the old stock one has a lip at top of shock where the new don't.

I'd definitely use the metal retainers.

You may have to pry the old cushions off and remove whatever rubber remains. It was as if mine had been glued together.

Thanks! Exactly what I did, I also used the "drill thru the shock and stick a screw driver in it to hold it still " method!

That is how I put my replacement OEM shocks together. But I did smear some marine grease between the metal retainer and shock body to ward off any moisture that may get in there. Probably not necessary.
