Looking at a ‘21 LX and I do not believe the windshield is OEM. What are yalls thoughts on this?

Everything else looks good. Vehicle is a CPO with 54k. Recirc door is good, AHC works as I believe it should, frame is spotless, engine is as well. I crawled around underneath and can’t find anything other than non OEM wiper blades and this windshield. The HUD looks kinda blurry and I do not recognize the windshield name.

Thanks!

It is not OEM.
Most people here recommended OEM because of variability w/ aftermarket. The issue is the rain sensor that may also be created by in proper installation. Test it with spraying water on the sensor area.
There is also the water intrusion issue that can be caused by improper windshield install regardless of being OEM or not. You may ask for an inspection of kick panel area and electrical connectors with the panels removed. This being a dealer sale, they should be able to accommodate as it is easy to pull them.
So, it might be just fine. You can think of it what if it was replaced with OEM and you never knew.
You may hagle on price for non OEM.
Good luck!

Also inspect the side windshield trims and how well they clipped on the roof channels.
Inspect the cowl to windshield. You do not want any gap especially on passenger side. Ask them to fix it if it has.

Thanks for the info.

It’s been in a year without issues. Carpet is dry and its rains for a few days on it.

I think it’s fine but I wanted to double check before moving forward.

There was a thread recently about HUD and aftermarket windshields. May want to review that.

Edit: above post beat me to it.

Check for cam tower leak?

Another user here recently mentioned a blurry hud from aftermarket windshield too.

Good luck
No cam tower leak. I crawled all underneath with my flashlight and checked everything. It was strange to see what it looked like compared to our Cruiser, its spotless. I checked all around the exhaust manifolds on the side, front and back… no seepage or wetness. I brought a small bore scope for my phone to poke around but decided it was overkill.

Looks like you’ve done your homework. My cam towers started leaking around 50k. Besides the windshield, it seems like a solid vehicle. I usually poke around the electronics for a while when looking at used vehicles, making sure all the windows control work, full up/down on all corners, headlights/high beams, rear cross traffic alert works, rear wiper and fluid work, power hatch, 3rd row power fold all function, parking sensors, side mirror power fold, etc.

Interesting to me the aftermarket panel specifically says "HUD"

Makes me wonder if some were designed to accommodate but others weren't. Probably a good question for the above mentioned thread.

That or it's a pretty crazy coincidence if that is unrelated to the heads up display.

50k sounds like really low miles for a issue like that? I didn’t think it was that common.

i didn’t think so either but my passenger side bank is leaking. I haven’t addressed it yet but my LC is still under warranty and will eventually deal with it.
