It is about time for an update I would think.

Just bring ya'll up to date.
F155 in, running single bbl large window carb.
4spd installed behind,
3spd version new to me transfer case hooked on up too.

Revelation: Longer drive train assembly combined with OEM center diff. makes for wicked drive shaft angle. Sooooooo.

Wally has a '63 off set rear end (my "63 was made in '62) so no worries. He is going to get that hooked up and then I hope to pick it up and continue to do a bit of this and that to the ol' girl.

I expect to offer the center diff, less 3rd member, for sale shortly. Brakes works btw.
For refrence the OEM rear drive shaft angle below.

She's back from Wally's

Inspite of lousy weather in New England, the wife and I journeyed to the Landcruiser Emporium and picked up my truck today. Pics tomorrow.

that driveway sucks doesnt it...my wife would let me take the minivan down it the last time we went over

and now there's alot more snow ...the cruiser however...she always says go for it :D

love to see more pics of it...didnt really get a good look when i went this week ...we talk too much when i see um

In regard to Wally's driveway, he drove the cruiser right up it. I did not dare take my truck and the u-haul trailer down there. FYI do not trust those u-haul car haulers. Mine kept releasing the ratcheting tie down on one side and the ramp worked itself almost all the way out. Be sure to use chains for backup.

It runs really well, especially after it is warmed up. I have got to commend Wally for doing such a nice job. The people at cruiserparts.net could take a lesson from him. Actually lots of lessons.

I now have:
F155 with new fuel pump and engine gaskets :)
OEM adapter for my 1bbl. carb, :)
New alternator:)
A new exhaust, not the hack job from cruiserparts.net
A new e-brake cable and a great install of the 4 speed
A oem distributor with electronic ignition
A drive gear for the future PTO
A new to me 4 speed
A new to me 3spd transfer case with e-brake
A rebuilt wheel cylinder and good brakes
A new seal on the steering box out put

The oil bath air filter is still in place and working it's old-school filtering

Wally also fabbed up a battery hold down. Much nicer than the cruiserparts.net bungie cord.

Wally did not cut corners, use crap or old parts and was always available to answer my questions and share his knowledge on cruisers in general. If you can get your cruiser to him in southern Vermont you will not be disappointed.

I will get pics out soon. Weather here is poor so don't expect sunshine etc.

Note: I purchased my FJ40 from cruiserparts.net so I have an informed opinion on their abilities with respect to mechanical work. But it is only my opinion. My 2 cents.

 That's great, I guess I won't be able to talk you out of that one barrel now.

During a warm sunny period today, an unusual happening to be sure, I drove off to the mechanic and got the girl inspected! She passed. I love the 4 speed and the F155.

Heat riser gasket gave up. She's a bit loud now. Otherwise running good.

I took the manifolds off to Sanel's to be machined. Too much rust on the heat riser gasket surface. About 1/8th of iron was removed from the exhaust manifold to get down to a good surface. After machining I fabricated an aluminum spacer and a gasket. A bit of high temp gasket goo and I bolted it all back together. It now is running smoothly again and is back on the road.

Feels like I will need to adjust the brakes soon however. Never ends.

END OF THREAD.
