I'm looking at a used 2002 LX470. Great service records, Carfax, etc. I'm having it inspected next week before moving forward.

In the meantime, I put the VIN in the Lexus site and found this gem. Does this mean it has a rebuilt engine? This event doesn't show up in the Carfax at all.

How long has carfax been around? Says service done in 08…..

2002 needing a motor rebuild in 2008. Why? Very unheard of with 2UZs. I guess anything is possible just very unusual. Maybe hydro locked? Jiffy Lube forget to put oil in the motor?

There is no information on who did it. It's not in the Carfax. Very odd.

Carfax buys information from many sources including dealers. Not all dealers sell or disclose it. Not odd at all.

Yep, this is why a pre inspection is important, and to use as many sources for prior info as possible. Carfax only knows what it knows….

Anyone can enter information in the Lexus Drivers portal. I enter my own service info. The fact that it doesn't have a "reported by" in that line makes me think a non-dealer entered that.
