Curious about any recent experiences or recommendations for front-end alignments around Raleigh.

I had my GX aligned after doing the suspension, and shortly afterwards it was back out, wandering left. I wasn't impressed with the shop that did it - or their work - so I'd like to hear from others w/ any recommendations.

TIA.

If the alignment goes out, doesn't that mean that you hit something on the road, not that the alignment shop did a bad job? Honest question, because the alignment is locked in with jamb nuts and they don't just come loose.

That said, there is no shop in RDU I've found that does a front-end only alignment. Every shop out there is 4 wheel. Despite my pleas that my truck's alignment can only be adjusted in the front, they charge the same rate.

Autosmart on 55 and Sedwick near my house has been doing Laura's car and they do an OK job.

The way the new alignment systems work, the same amount of setup time is required for the shop for 2 or 4 wheel alignment. I used to get pissed that I had to pay for a 4w alignment just to adjust the toe-in on my 40, but then I saw what is required to check it properly on the modern equipment. With that said, I don't have a recommendation for around here - sorry.

I just do my own toe alignment on the stick-front-axle vehicles I have. Two push pins and a measuring tape and I can get it within 1/16" every time. Not the case with a GX though and I'm not in Raleigh so I'm not much help. Good luck!

I haven't hit anything, just around-town driving. Alignment went out b/c the knucklehead didn't torque down the jamb nuts properly. But, now alignment is out and the nuts are torqued to prevent any more weirdness until I get another alignment.:bang:

Take it back and give them an opportunity to make it right. If they don't or won't - tell everyone you know! If they do, I'd say all good. We all screw up from time to time. GL Joe!

Unless anyone here has an updated recommendation, I will likely go to my local shop in Pittsboro - or maybe Hendrick Toyota.

I am putting on lower ball joints, new rear springs, tie rod ends and raising the front a bit.
