Doing my first engine oil change on the new-to-me 100. Still baselining it. PO used quick change places the last few years, filter brand consistent with that.
- wrong filter
- Note the dents. filter must have been installed with an impact gun. Took me half an hour and a pipe wrench to unscrew.
- no crush washer under the plug
- plug was finger-tight (I suppose it COULD have been cross threaded and hammered in, so I’ll consider this “lucky”)
- drain access cover replaced with with zip ties, screws gone
These are the absolute worst places to get any work done on your car, unless your only criteria are time and overpriced windshield wipers.
On the bright side, I LOVE this little feature I discovered at the oil filter:
An oil drip diverter! Brilliant. Not quite the dripless engine top-mounted filter design on my Subarus, but still a delighter.
