The mounting is significantly different. I could be done, spending a lot of time fabricating mounting points. Also the windshield will need to be replaced with the later version that has a black border. This hides the fact that the new dash encroaches on the bottom of the windshield.

There is a video recently posted on YouTube where an Aussie company retrofitted an automatic transmission into a V8 70 Series. They them drag-raced the V8 and 2.8L. The V8 won 3 out of 3.

Hello,

There is no replacement for the low rpm power of an engine such as the 1VD.

Smaller displacement engines need more (a lot more) rpm to generate the same power.

I do hope Toyota got the 1GD engine's heat management right.

On the other hand, the 1VD installed in 70 Series trucks is tuned for less power than its 200 Series counterpart, but that is another story.
