My sister used one of this type on her 4runner and it dented the tailgate... Don't know if she did it right or not. :meh:

when I did mine I attached two strap hooks to top of lift gate....then positioned the rubber feet that hold most the weight against my license plate and snugged down so it would not move...adjusting bike arms to near level or slightly higher than horizontal.
never a dent or lost bike. I did have to be careful that the clips on my pedals of mountain bike did not hit rear bumper but a little spinning of crank to reposition works great.

good luck

Yea, not sure how she did it, but it does look like it was caused by the rack. Maybe it wasn't tight enough. I know a lot of people use them. I have a Yakima receiver rack that works well.

that receiver rack especially a well built one with the swing down feature is the way to go...dont have to be over 6 feet tall to put on roof...no scarring of paint or anything from hang on mounts...and can still access your tailgate with bikes on unit.

My hang on was an ALLEN bike rack and is considered the best of that type..or was a few years ago. They also make a very good receiver rack but are a bit more than most others but would get the Thule or Allen if I was in market again.

mmm, RockShox Totem

The Yakima Hook Up got us (and our bikes) across the country and back. $300 for last year's demo model was a great price too ;)

2000, If you don't have a hitch, the trunk rack is probably your cheapest option. If you don't like that then on to the roof they go (just watch out for low bridges and parking garages!)

I've got the Sportworks T2. Apparently it was the last ever proformed rack before they sold out to Thule :bang:.

Fubuki, you bounced out early Wednesday, didn't get to meet.

96r50, yeah those Scott gamblers are blast proof, mines the custom blue one on the inside

Just a heads up, if you wear the gay bike clothes when you are bikein you have to change into some manly man clothes before you drive the 100 :)

Yeah I know, sorry about that. I have to get up waaaaaay too early for work and it was getting late. So, are you in CO for the long haul now? Sorry, haven't been following.

What about a full-face helmet and body armor, can I leave that on? :flipoff2: ;):p

I usually get in all muddy after removing all my armor...no gay bike clothes here.

Not yet, but I was just driving by on 6 and decided to come to the meet.

Maybe we can get together for a run while you're around. Or a bike ride. Not sure if you're into the whole DH/FR thing, but that's pretty much all I do. Keystone and Sol Vista are open and WP opens next week.

So, I just picked up a set of 18" alloy tundra wheels / tires with 15k on them that came with a full set of lug nuts for $200. The lugs look the same as my 100 lugs, but can someone confirm that they are the exact same thread size, and such?

Before someone "just thread them on to check", I've seen that video of the RX7 enough times to be cautious.

Edit: Looks like they're the same according to google.

I picked these up just a week after putting some 285/75's on my 16's. I don't regret getting the 285's at all, but they made the truck so sluggish, hesitant to stop, and killed my mpg, the 18's with stock tires fixed all of this. My plan's to run the 18's for daily driving, and throw the 16's on for trail days or snow.

I don't know how you guys run anything bigger than 33's without re gearing.

I run 07 tundra alloy lugs, they replaced my key'd lugs. When I ordered them the part number was for the tundra. So I'm assuming they are the same pitch/thread since I worked on mine.

On the sluggish-ness part, when I turn onto my street there is a steep hill and the LC is usually in second gear when I turn, I just jab the throttle a little and it kicks down to first and it scoots right up it. On long hills I put in in 2nd, just play with the shifter and see where/when you need to force the trans into a lower gear. I get tired of excessive skinny pedal getting up longer hills, I throw it in 2nd and off she goes.

Not sluggish with the 5 speed but MPG still suffer
