My 40 has a Ramjet and when I crack the throttle or open it, no problem. There is a sweet spot in the middle where the air makes a crazy loud whistle. Is there a solution to this?

Thats the signature of this engine and it isnt a problem. I have the mefi4 ram jet in my 60 and it also whistles, even after the intake was routed through a snorkel. It it less noticeable but you still hear it if you open the ds window (by the snork mouth).

I guess I'll need to tune up the stereo.
Once you have your air/fuel ratio sorted on the radio you could also try turning the volume up...

Today was not so bad I am getting use to driving the 40......I just got it on Friday. I am learning to stay off the throttle in that area.
I dont understand why this bugs you so much... The v8 rumble must really get on your nerves eh?

Here is a photo of my set up. Why would some make the whistle and others do not. I have read the same thing on other truck forums.

No whistle here either! Just a pleasant V8 rumble.
Most of the problem I'd say is the air intake pointed to the rear , right at the cab . Either rotate it downward or at least toward the front . Otherwise, ditch the tuner intake filter and run a common truck intake filter box that will fit behind the headlight or something .

I found this on the web last night
[FONT=Calibri, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial]Turbulence in the airflow stream can create a whistle. This can be created by sharp edges in the air intake system, most notably when a larger throttle body is used on a stock intake that has not been 'Port Matched.' The air along the outer edges of the air intake system hits the "wall" of the smaller intake manifold , creating turbulence that can cause a noticeable whistle. Other trouble areas can be the small vacuum ports and the IAC (Idle Air Control ) valve port which may empty into the main bore of the throttle body. If these edges are square enough at the entry point of the bore, it can create turbulence, and the air will whistle passed it (similar to blowing over the top of an empty cola bottle just right to get it to whistle). BBK offers a 1 year manufacturers warranty against any defects in materials or workmanship. If you feel that the ports of your throttle body are creating a whistle, you can request an RGA number (Returned Goods Authorization number) and return it to us, at which time we will inspect your piece, and further hone as you may feel it to necessary. Alternatively, if you would rather keep possession of your throttle body, and you feel you are adept enough with simple hand tools, you may want to try and hone the ports yourself with fine grit sandpaper. Some customers are adept enough with a small drill or Dremel-type tool to lightly sand the edges down. [/FONT]

The stocker GM/k&n filter mine came with that was mounted right on the intake whistled like a mofo. Everything is now routed through my snork and an air box I bitched together. You can just faintly hear a whistle if the ps window is down and the snork head is facing rear. Ive always liked the whistle for some reason....

Ran it like that all last summer and didnt notice any diff. compared to running w/o the snork connected. Well, besides less of a whistle anyways. It has a k&n filter in there now.

Glad i came across this thread. Mine has been whistling for ever but only at 2,500 rpm and 3rd gear. I have yet to connect my snorkel. I have been thinking about how to do that for a while. Nice solution above.
