Sometimes rain leaks into my cruiser on the drivers side (RHD) It drips onto the accelerator pedal. If the truck is pointed up hill, the leak doesn't leak.
I removed the hood/bonnet and the cowl to replace the plastic grilles and the rubber seal that runs across the edge of the cowl.

There was some crud in the slots the hood hinges fold down into so I vacuumed it out. Found a drain hole at the bottom of each slot. No evidence of rust holes or anything out of the ordinary. I thought I did a good job of sealing under the folding windscreen a while back. Not sure how the leak is happening.

Firewall has insulation on it.
I'll see about removing it.

Only leaks during rain, engine can be off and it might leak. Small puddle after it sits overnight in the ran.

maybe check rain gutters, try to figure out how the rain runs off of the roof. I was getting some rain water on the drivers side (right side) because water running through the hole in the drip rail in the front upper corner was running back on the door seal and the seal at that area was not sealing really well. I think I used some silicone to try and deflect the water away from the upper door seal.

I have the exact same issue...

coldtaco, so when you diverted the water at the top of the door as it came off the roof that stopped it for you? So more of a design issue than a leak... unless you count the door seals

I have an FRP top that is sitting around as I am using a soft top.
This leak is present with either top.

I recently found some rust in the door pillar at a seam. Not sure if it is related.

Yeah. I don't know, could be due to old tired seals, and I think my upper door is out of alignment some which might also be why it was leaking from there.

I know a lot of the troopy guys in Australia can find the source of their leaks from rust in the window frame.

My BJ74 has an occasional leak like this. I folded the windshield down and found that even after several weeks
of no rain the rubber seal under the windshield still was soaked, and the drip for me seemed to come from the inside
corner right where the door seal closes at the top of the A pillar and where it meets the windshield frame.
I wiped it all dry and closed it back up, made sure the bolt securing the bottom of the frame was tight. I haven't
had the leak back, but it never saw rain again. So I'm waiting until it rains again.

Here is how I found my leaks in the 73 and both 75 series. Get the garden hose and soak the lower 25% of the windscreen frame and then check for leaks. Then move up another 25% and check again and so on till it starts leaking.

On my 73 series it was coming in under the big seal between the windscreen frame and body. I put a line of selastic on top of the seal and no more problems
On my 1st 75 series it was a severely rusted windscreen frame and the swollen rusted metal was pushing the seal out of shape. New frame and some rubber reconditioner fixed that.
On my troopy it was dirt and some surface rust under the windscreen seal, cleaned it and sprayed an anti rust solution and no problem since

Hello,

x2.

The lower windshield seal tends to leak in old age. Water seeps in and then drips either to the door's side or to the accelerator.

You may need to re-seal it.

On the other hand, your windshield might have been replaced at some point in the past and not enough sealant was applied. Again. re-sealing is necessary.

Thank you for all this, Mudders; i have the same issue with my Troopie, leak on the right foot (mine is a RHD), in heavy rain. If i get my head down into that footwell, i can see into the engine bay from the underneath of the dashboard, which just doesn't seem right to me. So far i've assumed a small piece of bodywork has been missing, not surprising considering who the builder was, but it's nice to know it could be another issue.

Well I thought I had my leak fixed. Today while sitting in the rain, which you southerners would call a drizzle, it started leaking again in the same spot. So, I am thinking that the painted weather stripping is letting water past. I can't think of anything else, I might try a thin weather stripping added to that area.
