First and foremoust, I have cross-posted this thread here as I wasn't sure which forum would be the best to post it in:

Has anyone tried these guys out?

Yes it is in China, and yes, it is 'Made in China'.

So here's the thing, since virtually EVERYTHING we all buy is actually made in China (yes, it's true) are these knockoffs or are these the same product as ARB etc but without paying for the branding?

For sub $30 snorkels (plus shipping) from China, check out the following website:

Rahoo 4X4 Equipment Factory

They have a lot of other 4x4 stuff. Please note I am not affiliated with this Company in any way and do not know their quality or reliability.

Attached is their price list which they sent to me on 12th November 2011.

NO: the material does not meet the requirements of the manufacturer, close but still subpar.

Looks interesting, buying and shipping individually would be buucoo bucks. Plus the chinese have a nasty reputation of copying without the same quality oversight of the supposedly 'made in usa' stuff.
I personally buy certain brands cause I get their quality, warranty and satisfaction. I don't want a knock-off for cheap, that won't last and is cheap. I'll take care and quality of homemade any day over cheap!

Now, you local manufacturers, there is some pretty cool looking stuff in there, so what do you say?
Copy it, make it local and make it better, and I'll buy it. Just an observation,

ARB Air Locker Comparison - YouTube

I think this pretty clearly illustrates the difference.

It is bad enough that the Chinese reverse engineer things and then make their profits without any of the R&D expenses. But when they turn around and sell the fakes as the real thing, they are also undermining the reputation of the original companies as well - whether someone thinks that they are getting a real product or that it is a rebadged version of the original.

I agree that it is likely junk, but the point is we don't know. Anyone who thinks their 'made in china' stuff is superior to any other 'made in china' stuff without without actually verifying the quality personally is dreaming a bit. For all we know it comes off the exact same assembly line.

Personally I am not buying because I don't want to take the risk, but I was wondering if anyone else had already tried. It's not because I KNOW it's crap, but because I don't know that it's not.

Again, look at any of your name brand made in china stuff, and ask yourself why you think it's better that anyone else's.

So to summarize, I was just wondering if anyone KNOWS its crap, not anyone's opinion that because it's not branded and because it's made in china is automatically crap.

I've been involved in supply chain management before, and trust me, It's ALL made in china except for a few select things. Those select things are often (but not always) made in china and assembled in the US to allow for better duty, taxes, or brand recognition that it's made in the states.

Hopefully I haven't opened a can of whoop ass on myself for bringing up the made in china versus made in the usa debate , just wondering if anyone had tried it.

A lot of the gear imported into countries like the US and Australia is built to local specifications laid down by retailers and most likely superior to products sourced directly from China.

I doubt ARB make all their products in Australia, there is just too many small things for one manufacturer to handles
I would guess that their bullbar, lockers and compressor are the only things.

I heard the other day about how much Chinese adore Apple products,so much so that someone in China opened up a counterfeit Apple store selling counterfeit Apple products.
The store even had a spiral staircase as its centrepiece.
In another story I heard police had arrested someone for selling "Istoves". The counterfeiters had 600 cheap propane stoves painted green with Iphone stickers stuck on them LOL.
