After trying to install and Alpine HU tonight I dont think I had things connected right and now a think i blew a ton of fuses. The only one I could find to replace was the dome light. The instrument cluster, warning chime, and all other lights dont work. Any ideas of what I did wrong and how to fix it. Thanks guys!
Pull the bugger out and see what happens. You might have wired in a short somewhere or you've now managed to trash that HU by turning on an improperly wired device.
You're the 2nd one in a month who screwed up an install. What is the problem? When I did mine the HU and the Wiring kits had identical color coded wiring. So basically blue-blue, yellow-yellow and so on. How does one screw that up?
whenever I try to power up the radio it starts to power up and then the lights (on radio and dome). After hours on the phone with crutchfield they say it is a problem with their harness. That problem just became Circuit City's problem. I am done trying to install this POS.
All I did was hook my taco's cd player up and it fried....and the rear sub doesn't work great. I still belive this is all part of the same problem. In regards to the fried taco's unit, all I did was use the connectors that where in the dash. It should have worked and all it did was fry my player.

I had this exact problem wiring up my JVC deck using a wiring harness adapter. On my adapter there was a blue wire going to a pin and then another same blue colored wire jumpered from that pin to another on the LC harness side. This blue wire is for an auto up feature for a power antenna or remote turn-on for an amp(In theory). Since I don't have an auto up antenna, I connected it anyway since it didn't hurt anything when I did this in my 88 4Runner. Well in the LC is does. just pull those 2 pins out that are connected to the blue pwr antenna/remote turn-on blue wires. I don't know if that pin connects to the subs amp or what, but when I pulled the blue pins out of the harness adapter the dome fuse stopped blowing. All my speakers work fine except the rear sub. I don't hear that one playing, but from what others say its not really worth it anyway.
Hope that helps,
Gary
The following is a cut & paste from a previous posting by StressPuppy regarding his stereo install:
I started by buying an Alpine 9827 HU. Great unit, even if it illuminates blue to the LCs green. I bought the Metra Universal Toyota wire harness from BestBuy. It was labeled well, as was the Alpine. I wired it up as noted, but when I hooked up the power, it would cut on and then off immediately. CD worked though. Found out that the Metra harness was wired wrong for the LC with auto antenna and manual buttons. It had the antenna on wire going to pin 9 with a loop back wire to pin 8. The antenna on wire MUST go to pin 8 and you must cut the loop-back wire, terminating it and the wire to pin 9. Auto antenna and buttons work!
