Reviving an old thread.
The 3FE Koyo are $577 at 1800 Radiator.

So I bought a 3FE 1FZ Koyo A1918.

The 1FZE Radiator is dimensionally very close save for the following:

1. Fan shroud mounts Top and Bottom dont line up.

2. The filler neck is on the Driver side (for a RHD 80).

3. The 3/8" / 6mm coolant line off the top bank that connects to the 1FZE. The 1HDT Radiator doesnt have an outlet like this.

My questions for the guys on here are:

1. Will a 1FZE shroud work on the 1HDT Engine?
2. Where should I connect the extra line coming from out of the top of the radiator to, on the 1HDT?

Is your truck an automatic or 5 speed?

Thanks for posting this! I just got this radiator in and was wondering which setup it is really for.

Now I know.
Reason I went with the Koyo was I wanted a solution closer to OEM.

But it's far from it.

My OEM T-Rad Radiator is Aluminum and has plastic end tanks.

I was hoping the Koyo would be close, which it is, except for the shroud. I dont want to run without a shroud as it definitely serves a purpose.

My alternate options are somewhat undesirable;

A. to get the OEM radiator cleaned thoroughly, as it was not leaking.
B. To modify the 1HDT shroud by cutting the bottom two tabs off and try to plastic weld them.

What I would do:

1. Get the correct OEM radiator for your truck available through any Toyota dealer in the US: 16400-17020

2. Route the trans cooler lines to an external trans cooler that you put in front of the AC condenser.

Done deal.
Thanks @Onur !

Yeah I'm going to go the OEM route.
Toyotapartsdeal has it for $359.
Hope 1800 Radiator accepts returns.

I have a PDI FMIC and Trans Cooler which I intend to plumb to the cooler on the radiator in series.

Radiator Trans Cooler In (driver side for RHD) -> Radiator Trans Cooler Out -> PDI Cooler In -> PDI Cooler Out to Transmission.

16400-17020 is for a manual transmission.

Auto tranny radiators for HDJ are discontinued.

Hence why you have to use the MT radiator.
Now I understand. Thanks again.

Radiator came in today.
Thanks Beno @Onur
For anyone looking to replace the radiator on their 1HDT HDJ81 this is the only OEM alternative thats will direct fit.
16400-17020.
I ordered through Toyotapartsdeal.

Box had some damage but radiator seems intact, save for 2 broken tabs on top, petcock nipple and some bent fins.😠

Had the same thing happen recently but we buy them from the local dealership. Free shipping and they picked up the damaged one and dropped off a new one. That is why we buy these from the dealership vs searching for the cheapest.

Cheers

Agreed. The local Toyota dealership had been unsuccessful in getting the parts in the past. Lesson learnt.
