Hi All,

Baptism by fire, my first big project is replacing my heater core...

I pulled apart my dash and got to the core, but my new one is one inch in width, while my installed one is over two inches wide (pictures attached). I looked at other parts shops and they all seem to have one inch width cores for sale. Am I missing something? Is there some sort of cover on top of the core and that's the extra width I am seeing? I called my local dealership and the part number they gave me also seems to be one inch. I know there is a cold weather core, but that shouldn't affect the size, right?

Appreciate any insights, thanks.

There should be a part number on the existing core. Did you see that anywhere? If you can share that and the one you ordered someone might be able to assist better.

Is the rear heater core the same size as the front? I wonder if they are different the wrong one got ordered? Also the ribbing looks different between the 2. Is the new one OEM?

Hi all,

I got the old core out and unfortunately there was no part number located on the core itself, so maybe it had previously been replaced with an aftermarket part. What I ordered was this from Rockauto. More Information for AGILITY 9010402 - https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=3608877&cc=1357512&pt=6864&jsn=908

I ordered a second aftermarket part from NAPA that they said was larger 1 3/4 inches vs the 1 inch from rockauto, even though that was smaller than what the current core measured at. After receiving it it ended up being the same 1 inch as the one from rockauto... so it seems like a potential pitfall with this part across the board.

I ended up putting it in and shimming it with some heat-resistant foam and tape. It ended up seating alright, I haven't been able to start it up yet due to electrical issues putting it back together, but will report back once I get it started and back up and running. Thanks for your help.
