Radflo shock issue

Ok, let me clarify again. I was simply stating that people with 2.5" extended Radflo shocks ARE experiencing noise problems. Not the 2.0", not the standard length, but the 2.5" extended version. The only difference is the additional reservoir and the aftermarket UCAs, which seems a little overkill for a DD and occasional off road vehicle. I know for a fact that I have not "bottomed out" on the droop stop since the Radflos were installed on the vehicle.
I'm just waiting until I can source some used OEM shocks, so I can send them in.

Wow, this thread bummed me out. I was about ready to order a set of Radflos today to replace the OMEs. I'm having serious doubts now...

I've had Radflos for a couple years now and they have been trouble free for me. If I were buying today, I would go back to the OME setup I ran before. Imho these are great for high speed stuff. But too stiff for slower trails and DD duty. I have also been completely unhappy with the TC uca and would not recommend them. Non of these higher end products are going to take you any further than ome, hmm, etc.

Some people have had problems, others haven't. It is what it is...both experiences are helpful to others...

Finally swapped my Radflos with Fox shocks and the noise is gone. Such a joy to drive now. They're going back to be "rebuilt" if anyone is interested in them...

I have a 200 and went with icons though the radflos were a strong consideration. I had an issue with the icons making odd noises and it got resolved swiftly though not without some drama (front shocks weren't pressurized at the right psi).

I spoke to glen a couple of times on the phone presales. It can't be easy coming into a thread with negative charge so I applaud him for that.

End of day it's the after service that's valuable. Is fox here? Icon? Crickets.

Glen and Radflo, I hope you guys keep doing the right thing. There will always be the unhappy few and so long as you keep these numbers low you're winning.

Being super anal about my mod decisions and the overall integrity of my modified cars, I appreciate you guys showing us some of the scars and wounds of venturing into aftermarket land because it is bottom line a riskier venture than sticking to oem (boring).

Radfails disappoint again! Over these shocks!

Yep...you've just discovered one of the downsides to post style upper mounts. To be fair the damaged incurred does not look like the fault of the shock...or brand of shock. If I had to guess I'd say the mounting nut came loose...allowing movement between the urethane bushings, the post and the mounting surface on the truck. Just a guess.

Close Dan, it appears the reservoirs interfered with other suspension components forcing the entire shock to press up against the mount over time.

. This is the damage to the reservoirs. I'm keeping it simple this time around, fox 2.0's on all 4 corners valved correctly.

There is so little space for the reservoirs in the rear. Unless at the right height and in the right orientation, the sway bar was likely rubbing on reservoirs at flex. Mine would slightly rub and I took my time to place the resi out of harms way. Move onto the Fox setup. Should be a much less stressful experience.

Ouch. Although my rear shock mounts are not OEM I mounted the remote cans to the rear cross member completely out of harms way including spray fro the front tires. This location has the added benefit of increased fluid volume/cooling from the longer hoses. You might want to consider this location for mounting your shock remotes even with OEM shock location.

2.0" will work ok but are on the small side for our GVW.

My 2.5 with reservoir that are spec'd for a Prado are mounted to the frame rail by the lower links. Thought they'd be vulnerable to damage but they've worked out fine.

rb4638, LCA sliders might be in order ;)

Ultimate Radflo trail failure yesterday. Driving down a wash close to Joshua Tree and I hear a hissing sound. I thought my tire was losing air. Stopped to survey the damage and I see oil all over my front passenger wheel. Look under and see the Radflo shock spewing oil all over the place. These 2.5’s shocks have lasted me about 7 years with one rebuild. I’m done with high end shocks. I seriously don’t think the 100 series really sees all of the benefits of such shocks due to the short travel up front. Time to look into Tough Dog, OME or Iron Man.
