Just wondering if anyone knows what landcruiser diesel engines came mated to the R151 tranny. I know that the 4 cylinder gas engines had this tranny, but have not had much luck locating info on the diesel engine compatability. Thanks.

I think this gearbox was mated to the post 98/99 and current 1HZ diesels

Which ones have the same spline count and are interchangeable?:D

Don't know, but guys on LCOOL are saying if you got a pre 2002 landcruiser, a driveline clunk is the first tell tale sign before you lose motion as the output shaft splines strip. Some are reporting that happening at as early as 70,000kms. If you're in the outback when that happens, be sure you have a lot of water :D

But you got an H55 right?

I've got one backing up my 1KZ-T and another spare w/transfer sitting in the garage. No problemo.

jumping out of 5th?
or all gears?

My old F 5 speed sometimes spits it out 1st but I think its related to the detente spring.
My new used one likes to jump out of reverse under load but never under normal circumstances.
I have someone who can pulll them out and fix them cheap and good so Im not too bothered. It just stretches the budget around christmas time

I thought the H55F is a great tranny .. but input shaft are intechangeable with H151 .. ?

My idea is keep my tranny and transfer with 1HD-T in front .. :D

H151 input, no. But you can get an H55f input shaft that fits a 1HZ motor. Use a bellhousing from a 1HZ, Isuzu clutch (search this forum) and you are set.

I am trying to get an adapter to make the 2H/3F version of H55f to work with a 1HZ to eliminate the hassle of swapping input shafts. We'll see. But the disadvantage is that you are stuck with a 10 spline (275mm max) clutch.

cheers
