Hi FJ40 lovers,
I just got a new set of 4.88´s for my FJ40 and surfing through bobby long´s web got the idea to do a heat treatment to this new set. It´s supposed to make the R&P much stronger.
Do you know what type of steel this pieces are made of? 4340? What´s the stock RC hardness and how much would be wise to increase with this treatment?

I´m in Chile btw, that´s why I didn´t send them to Bobby in the first place.

They are already heat treated...

I don't quite see the point in re-doing a heat treating process. And, hardness is not necessarily what you're after.

Are you breaking lots of gear sets? If so, then maybe your gears are not getting set-up properly.

no, not really having any problem at all, is just that when I saw on longfield´s web site the heat treatment for R&P they offered I though that before installing it might be good to do the same, but from what I found on pirate from people who did this, just wasn´t worthy.
thanks anyway.
