Thought I’d post this so new owners can splash oil on ”Day 1” of a 5.7 / 3UR when they buy a used one:

Oil pan drain plug: 30 ft/lb
Stock filter cap: 18 ft/lb
Filter cap drain plug: 9 ft/lb
The smaller O-ring is for the filter cap drain plug.

Recco’d oil is 0-20, but as of my last change I went 5qt 0-20, 3qt 5-20.

Valvetrain noise on startup is sub 2 seconds & I leave mine sitting for 2-3 days at a time.

I never got used to the pure 0-20 oil startup noise, and I live in a relatively colder area of the continent.

FWIW, I use Mobil 1 & the 5qt 0-20 jug was “Extended Performance”
the remaining 3qts were 5-20 in their “High Mileage” -flavor.

I’m probably making some “2-20” weight with my viscosity blend.

1st oil change by me was at 58K, and I replaced my filter cap with a Jowett one - can’t say how much I like it compared to that stock POS.

****If you buy / are servicing using a Jowett cap, TQ values stay the same.****

HTH helps others / use as a quick ‘cheatsheet’.

Did another oil change, err — well — an oil change and an unplanned ATF ~4qt fluid swap.

Yup.

I got in a hurry & popped my trans pan plug, not my oilpan.

It was dusk, I pulled in hot & knew 14mm was socket size so I had fluid moving in notime, let it drain overnite........

Sooo......with your 3UR powertrain on ~8” ramps, you get about 4.25qt of ATF out.

Other TQ spec’s I “learned” from my unplanned ATF -partial swap:

AT drain plug: 15 ft/lb

AT check plug: 15 ft/lb

AT fill plug (24mm, DS) 29 ft/lb

Also big shout out to @NLScooby - I did about like he did & nearly stripped my drainplug, but it felt ‘wrong‘ about 20-22 ft/lb’s where I quit, and I still had a slow weeping leak - even that took some laquer thinner & RTV to seal my pan & plug.

-So it’s easy to do, esp when the oilplug is the same size & a 30 ft/lb spec......go figure.

**At least I know now how to do it right next time when I do a full flush.**

FWIW, I went 5qt of 5-20 M1 annual protection, 3qt of 0-20 M1 high milage (they were out of annual protection single qts).

Funny, when I did my first oil change on my 3rd Gen 4runner I did the same thing.

I laugh now looking back - shared pain, right?

Anyhow, it was a blessing in disguise after reading what a joke that OEM “WS“ A/T fluid is.
—There’s no superior factor to it, Toyota just doesn’t want you messing w/ the trans.

“WS” just stands for ‘world standard’ - the “S” ain’t for synthetic. — Not even close.
