4.7L 1st Gen Sequoia? My first gen saw this kind of mileage fairly regularly. Mixed driving was always arounf 17-19mpg and road trip/ freeway driving saw 22 pretty regularly. My bone stock 21 Tundra never did better than 15.2mpg and it had 57k when I sold it. I was pretty disappointed. My 08 5.7L Sequoia is even worse, but it is to be expected with all the extra weight and the 35's. Just did the O2 sensors a week ago, I'm going to clean the MAF and then refuel and I hope to see it go up at least a gallon or 2.
2022 TRD PRO Sequoia (5.7)

I got 19 mpg on my way home from the dealer I bought my 07 from. Been downhill ever since with bigger tires and lift.
34"s and maybe 4"-5" of lift.
Regeared to 5.13's 100k ago to stop hunting so bad on hills when loaded for camping w/ RTT.
Like other posters have said, a bit of poor mileage is a small price to pay for reliability and mine has been through some tough times as a work truck.

All that being said, I can definitely testify that there are all the available gallons in the tank for using. The Tundras are famous for having gas hand problems, indicating empty way early, but the gas is still there and useable. Many owners are totally used to reseting the miles and mpg every single tank fill so they can know exactly where they are when the tank gets low but the hand says empty. The tank being so small and short range already makes it pretty annoying to have the hand indicate empty when there's a quarter tank left. I solved the gas hand problem when I needed to drop the tank and put in a new pump.

I could get 14-14.5 highway driving if I kept it below 55. So that never happens. I do a lot of start/stop for a couple miles down dirt roads and will get 10-11, and normal driving my all around average is 12.5.

OP, does your dash not have an average and an instant readout, even if it isn't in George Washington's thermoses per football field the way God intended?
Tank refills aren't accurate enough to work with IMO.

I owned a Tundra for a while. Unless you are in a stripped down 2WD regular cab model, anyone driving like a reasonable human is not seeing anywhere near 19+ MPG in a 5.7 Tundra. The only way you get that is by driving and accelerating annoyingly SLOW, like a blind geriatric or hyper-miling Prius owner. The comparison is not relevant.

There are two fuel tank options on these trucks over the years, the small one (26 gallon IIRC?) and newer ones can have a 38 gallon. The 26 gallon tank is ABYSMALLY small and a range under 200 miles is not uncommon, especially if you modified the wheels/suspension/load.

Rolling on 35s and stock diff ratios? Kiss 6th gear goodbye. You might see it going downhill at 80 MPH. I picked up 2 MPG just re-gearing back to a stock ratio. On mine, 14 MPG highway was a rare, but good day.

interesting my 1st gen sequoia does more like 10mpg regularly city driving, how do I move close to these your figures?

I get about 11mpg with lift and 37s

I'm not sure, maintenance maybe. I've read of numerous guys getting 17-19 in the 1st gens. My 1st gen had 187k miles when I picked it up, I did a full onboarding maintenance when I picked it up, water pump, thermostat, all coolant hoses, cam shaft and crank shaft seals on the front end, new timing belt, tensioner, idlers, valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, I replaced 2 coil packs, transmission fluid, differential oil, brakes, battery. I ran stock sized all terrain tires, usually factory take-offs from 4runners. I put 92 octane fuel in it once a month and 87 the rest of the time. I don't have a heavy foot 99% of the time and don't drive like a Californian A.K.A, I don't drive like an entitled jackwagon.

AKA 'I drive like a geriatric with nowhere to be'
I drive like a person whose head isn't up their own arse. When I drive, I'm not just in my own little self-centered universe. I pay attention to everything around me, not just what is directly in front of me. I also, look before changing lanes and backing up, I also don't tailgate in free flowing traffic...WIERD! By the way, I'm nowhere near being geriatric or a timid driver, I used to drive armored trucks, I drive aggressively when necessary. I drive like the world is full of self-centered as$-hats that grew up on smart phones and tablets, and have an attention span measured in micro-seconds. Driving like you have nowhere to be....having somewhere to be doesn't entitle people to drive with disregard for everyone else on the road. Adults schedule in time to account for traffic etc.. leave early, and arrive early to places....it's called being responsible and accountable. Sometimes it doesn't work out, but unless someone close to you is being born or dying...you can be late, and you learn and evolve.

Keep the same driving style and the same mods (such as lift/level/tires/etc) across a variety of v8 or ttv6 half tons, and you will see about a 3mpg spread.

But you won't see 20 MPG in any of them without annoyingly slow habits...

Like driving the speed limit? Poor guy

If you need to drive as fast as you can everywhere you go, then I’m sorry, I have to agree with @LandCruisinMy93

I get it, you live in some podunk country town following tractors all day. Out West the speed limits are 75, 80 in some places, and anyone actually adhering to them is in the minority.
