Running a 77/ FJ40 (stock). Bought it and a 74/ FJ40 17 years ago. Gave the 74 to my son. My 77 has been sitting for 10 years waiting a gas tank. 7 years as my daily driver. Grey whiskers are settling in and i need to get this baby up and running again .. my question is : Is there a fuel tank made that you do not have to use a fuel separator? If not, where can a person find a fuel separator? Tip of the hat to ya, for what looks like a great site.

My bad, new to this forum thang. I did do lots of reading of fuel tanks and separators. Pressure and vacuum relief caps, hole drilled into fuel cap etc.
Now i have legit question. Could you run your three vent lines from tank into a single line and then connect to charcoal canister? just a thought! might that work or do i have my head up my butt ?
Not quite stock the ole 77/, it does have power streering

Sthd. I’m into modifying my ‘74 , 1.5f, that has a Weber 38. After scanning and gleaning as I can from this site I’m taking “Sarge’s” recommendation to install a bypass filter , so I’m starting on the return line layout and install . Today , during disassembly I found the vapor separator in several pieces - so , like you, I would like to find a simpler solution

Hmm, well then-This is new/helpful information as I’m definitely not finding a charcoal Canister. Just looking and someone said it should be on the firewall below the heater fan? For me- nothing there

LOL i did not find a charcoal canister myself on my 77FJ40. But did find my fuel separator stuffed under my bench in shop. But the output end was capped off, right after the 2 way check valve. Valve is for vapors going the canister and if canister pressure builds up it goes back to fuel tank. .... So in saying all that, if one has a pressure and vacuum relief fuel cap you are golden !! .... tried posting a pic but will not let me :-(
