I just spent the last 5 days on Padre Island National Seashore camping and surf fishing. We drove to the end (60 miles) and camped. The drive to the end was done during low tide and easy. The return drive had to be done during high tide and was difficult due to overheating issues. The sand was deep and I could only drive 1-2 miles before letting the engine cool for 10 minutes. In the future, I'll plan my trip around the tide charts!

For sure. We hit the high tide as well. Water was reaching all the way to the dunes. It was scary in certain parts.

That’s why some of those Texas and California trucks have a ton of surface rust. All that driving on the beach next to all that salt water.

Don’t crush the turtle eggs!
Great area though. The sea turtle sanctuary was fun to visit while I was there years back.
