Hey guys, I'm taking the rest of the week off to service the new BJ70. I have so far adjusted the valves, drained the engine oil, drained the transmission (5-speed), drained the transfer case.

I cannot get the oil filter off! I just bent my oil filter wrench (the pinch type) trying. I've sprayed the thing down with penetrating oil, and I'll try again tommorrow...any advice? Should I buy the cap-type fitting for my socket wrench?

I have no idea where the transfer case fill plug is, can someone describe it's location?

I have found the tranny fill plug, but it looks like I'll have to pump the fluid in, no space for a funnel. Surprised not to find a dipstick in the engine bay!

I think I know where the differential drains are (the big 24mm bolts), but where are the filler plugs?

I found a filter of some sort between the radiator and the front grill, it has an inspection glass at the top...is this the sediment filter?

I can see how the alternator belt is tightened/removed, how are the other two tightened, and what is the part # for the A/C belt?

Finally, I AM using the shop manual, but it's frustrating in its lack of clarity..."Fill transfer case"...(OK....how?!)...is there a better source of drawings and pictures?

I promise you'll only have to tell me once....

---drive a screw driver through the filter side to side and twist. sometimes brute force is all you can do. if that doesn't work then use a chisel and work on the lip careful not to damage the aluminum seat.

---about 1/3 up the back, a 17 mm plug facing out the back roughly just below and over from the idler shaft. (big round thing about dead center)

---manual tranny, no dipstick. if you are going to do your own fluid changes go buy a real pump for a 5 gallon pail, pick one up from Napa. life gets much easier after that...

---front diff and back diff about 1/3 the way up 24mm or 15/16th bolts.

---14 mm or 9/16th treaded bolt each system has it's own set up. make sure you release the hold down nut on the front of the respective adj pullies.

---factory manual or Haynes or the simular crap manuals from austrailia? if it is not factory get one from me. you will treasure it like a pot of gold....

HTHs cheers

For the oil filter sometimes the pinch type wrench way up on the filter where it connects to the engine works too.

The "filter" between the rad and grille is likely the A/C filter/dryer. DO NOT OPEN IT. The sedimenter is located underneath the truck.

The sedimenter in the BJ70 model are under the hood, above the oil filter
