Hi, I just bought a 1980 FJ40. The rig came with 35'' BJ Goodrich tires and have a 4'' lift. Problem is there is alot of play in the steering and sway. If I put 32'' tires on and removed the lift or reduce to 2.5'' would this solve the problem? I know there are steering kits and sway bars that I can put on but I feel the FJ is also sitting high. Thoughts?

Thanks

Sounds like maintenance of rod ends, anything steering related. If it's lifted, is the front axle angle correct? Maybe needs a shim
to get the camber/toe back to normal. You can check the steering box for play, adjust if required. Is it a suspension lift, or is it a case of
long shackles? Better pics of the front end would help.
