H42's do not match (I had the tooth count commited to memory in a past life).

I made a tooth count on these input shafts yesterday. H42 has 24 teeth, HZ shaft has 26. The diameters of the input gears (may not be important but I have it in front of me), are 8.9 cm and 8.2 cm, H42 and HZ respectively.

(12 valve for sure) HD + HZ/H55 bellhousing + 300mm flywheel + HD PP + isuzu clutch + HZ H55 = running down the road

Are you saying that I can take the NEW H55F that is in my 2F powered 60, and just bolt it up to an 1HD-T (or any H series) engine??? Not according to SHeldon at G&H.

It's the bellhousing that's the issue if I have all this correct in my mind, as you need to mate the tranny to the engine, thus the input shaft length difference. The 1HZ is unto it's own...

There is one change in H55's in I believe 1985. The early models have an open input bearing (behind the "figure 8" bearing retainer). The later models use an orange OEM style bearing or black aftermarket (front 1/2 facing "figure 8" is sealed). rick

Do these bearings differ in inner and outer diameters, or in some other manner? I assume that they are not interchangeable.

Jim, how far off is your project? I'll trade you a 3F H55 input shaft, same as a 2H or 2F, for a 1HZ input, but I'll need a couple of years before I get to it.

(Different H55, Brett ;) )

Dave

Dave, the project is underway, completion date will be ??? I'm just now starting a 2F rebuild and have plans to put this H55F behind the new engine so a short time frame would be 1-2 months. But I may have a spare HZ input shaft lying around.

'kay, put my name on it :)

yes jim, diameters of bearings are different as well as a dimensional spacing.

Ok....

Thanks, Rick. So, basically the H55F in back of my 2F engine can be mated to a 1HD-T using the 21 sline Isuzu clutch, provided I install an HZ input shaft, and using the standard HD belhousing, right? Is the HZ input shaft 21 sline - matches the Isuzu clutch, Right?

I hope I have this right as it could be an expensive mistake.

knowing that a 12 valve HD and the HZ share the same block casting, there is no argument that the HZ bellhousing will fit the HD right?

knowing that the H55 did come behind the HZ, using a HZ bellhousing on a HD block, you can put the two together.

275mm flywheel (HZ) could be used with HD but lifespan is ?

300mm flywheel and clutch system for HD is 14 spline center (only seen in H15X trannies).

magically, an isuzu clutch 300mm is available with 21 spline inner

(12 valve for sure) HD + HZ/H55 bellhousing + 300mm flywheel + HD PP + isuzu clutch + HZ H55 = running down the road.

I, as 98% of you on the board can buy a new 60450 2H transmission from Toyota and stick a HZ input shaft into it to make this tranny right.

BTW, ENS price on the HJ60 tranny was $4110 CDN a few years ago and the correct HZJ75 tranny was $6,500 CDN. Input shaft is under $300 and one gets a "FJ" input for free from the new tranny to resell....

Have I got my facts wrong????

Mike

In order to bolt your F shaft tranny to a 1HD-T you have to swap in a 1HZ input shaft, get a 1HZ H55F type bellhousing and an isuzu 300mm clutch.. and last but not least.. get a 1HD-T

Just to clarify.. 2H 12H-T H series engines are not in any way related to the 1HZ/1HD despite all the H's... ;-)
