Stock gauge readings mean nothing............

I have put mechanical pressure gauges on engines in which the stock gauge did not read at hot idle, and gotten readings of 35psi hot idle.

I have put mechancial pressure gauges on engines in which the stock guage read 1/4 at hot idle, and gotten readings og 35psi hot idle.

Put a gauge on it if you really need to know.

Typically speaking I am around the 1/4 mark. Sometimes above and sometimes below. Depends on air temp, engine temp and RPM.

When the engine is hot, and the air is warm, and I am idling it is the lowest it goes. Around 1/8 (ar a little below) on the needle. I was at first really worried about this. But now I am not so worried since my oil is the same as the 15x40 when warm.

Also my BEB were done, so I know its not that (cause the low pressure)
Also my oil light has never come one. So that make me feel better.

It would be interesting to see what oil pressure readings other owners are getting.

Cheers,
Nick
i have seen ultra low HDJs with very low readings and i have seen high km units with a constant reading at half way...
as Greg says you really need to install a mech gauge to know for sure...

Here is a picture of the Amsoil bypass filter in my LWB Samurai.

you keep a nice engine compartment :) I see adel clamps and nicely routed wires.

Congrates on a nice job!

This is a interesting issue . not about kind oil you use .. the real point is the low press in 1HD-T.

At normal operative temp and idle my reading is to low .. les than 1/4. Worried .. yes little. I'm using right now Castrol Viscus Max 20W-50 but plan in my next oil change run Castrol GTX 20W-60.

But I thought is only hiding other engine issue .. maybe BEB or other king or issue.

Why are you running such thick oil for a diesel?

Low oil pressure is a sign your big end bearings are stuffed.

Amsoil is for sure the best oil on earth, but I seriously need to look into these by pass filters, could anyone tell me how hard it is and how you install one? Can I buy a kit that includes everything? If so is there a CDN source.

Which Amsoil one fits on a 3B, if it just screws right on I think i'm sold.

I use Canadian tire brand Diesel oil, 10:30 winter - 15:40 summer, fram filter, gunk engine cleaner every other oil change, oil change at 4000 kms.

Oil pressure is just above low at normal idle engine operating temperture.

Here in Panamá right now outside of my office you get 32 - 34ºC and a lots of traffic .. with 80 - 90% relative humidity.

maybe ..

I agree, Fram filters suck bad. Delco or K&N HP3001. The nicet thing on the K&N is the 1" socket fitting on the top which has a hole through it to wire it in place, for those who are paraniod of loose oil filters:).
