OK, so the driver's seat in the 40th anniversary edition came standard with a motor-operated lumbar support system. The switch for it is located on the same bezel with the other seat controls. This makes the driver's seat bezel different than the passenger seat bezel and it also differs from other LC versions because they either did not come with a motor-operated lumbar system or they do not have a lumbar switch located in the same spot.

I need to replace the leather in my seats, so why not at least look at other leather colors. From this, I decided to check what colors those switches, and the bezel came in. That is where I ran into a not uncommon problem with the 40th. I cannot find any reference whatsoever to the motor-operated lumbar system in any parts list for the LC. From this, and past experience, I also expected the LC EWD would be totally void of any information regarding the lumbar system. Sure enough, nothing there either. But, also based on a little experience, I went over to the LX 450 EWD and bingo, the lumbar system is there. This made me somewhat confident that I could get the needed information for my LC from LX 450 parts lists. I was dead wrong.

Just as was the case with the LC, I cannot find any reference whatsoever to the motor-operated lumbar system in any parts list for the LX 450, in spite of it supposedly being a standard item. Surely someone here has replaced a part in the lumbar system before, but I cannot find any reference to that either.

Can anyone help?

If it was standard on the LX 450, it had to be on the 97 model year. My 96 LX has the manual crank knob just like my standard edition 97 80 series did. Just guessing here, but based on prior research into getting the seat control for the normal controls on that seat, the fancy version is likely unobtanium anyway. A salvage part quest is likely what you're faced with.

I am looking at a 97 LC parts list at this moment and they have 3 versions for the front seats. It is very difficult to figure out what version I have. But, regarding the motor-operated lumbar switch it does not matter anyway, since none of the 3 show it. You mention that your 96 LX and 97 80 series have a manual knob. So does mine! It also has the motor adjustment. The funny thing is that the passenger seat has neither of these adjustments.

It just sort of grates on me that neither the LX 450 nor the 97 LC part diagrams have any information whatsoever regarding the switch for these motors and I am holding mine at this moment.

My 96 LX450 has motorized lumbar. It also has manual crank adjustment for the side bolsters for the driver's seat back. The knob is on the right side of the seat back.

I haven't found anything, but Fig 84-01 is probably want you want. 84656a is probably the bezel and the 84921 are the buttons.

For my LX450, there are a 8 pages in the electrical section with 8401.

For example, putting in 84921 into PartSouq search brings up these three:

Yes, you are correct, except that when you look closely at figure 84-01, there is 1 switch unit, 2 knobs, and the bezel. These are for the standard control without the 3rd lumbar switch. There is nothing shown for the option with the lumbar. I can sort of see this with the 97 LC because the 40th anniversary version is left out here and there, but I think all LX 450s had the lumbar system and yet not a single LX 450 parts diagram shows it. The LX 450 parts diagram for this area is identical to that of the LC.

Yes, that's how it shows on Partsouq for my 1997 LC (non 40th). The rocker switch for the lumbar is part of the switch assembly and you can't get it separately like the two knobs for the other seat adjustments. Shown here in gray. Mine is Oak, which is NLA.

Looks like you can get the gray one (B0) brand new here: Front Power Seat Switch #84922-60020-B0 | Autoparts.toyota.com - https://autoparts.mariettatoyota.com/products/product/switch-fr-power-seat-8492260020b0

Just to clear up the confusion I may have caused...For the longest time, I thought the in/out of the lumbar was effected by a pump that inflated a bladder. Only when I took it apart when doing the seat extender mod did I discover it's actually a motor that drives a crank mechanism, not a pump. So the motorized part the OP was describing is on my 96 LX, too. The manual knob on the inner side of the seatback controls the up and down of the lumbar while the motor control switch controls the in and out of the lumbar support.

Aha, thanks! That clears up my confusion about that switch.
