i have no issue with working with APVIQ (want to break that down for me?) after all they have been in the battle since the first temp restriction.
we are here to help, not control, in the Quebec fight. (if we don't like the way it is heading then we can always walk, but the fight is what is drawing us together)

Just got back from the lawyers on a different matter but I mentioned our struggle. She suggested we provide them with the history and put a student on it at $95/hr. We need to work with apviq.ca they may have their own lawyer....

i agree, we can't count on the curbers (in general) to be part of the fight, although there will be a couple that will join.
(and i don't think you SHOULD have to have a license to sell cars. i have met some very decent honest curbers and some extremely crooked dealers)

i agree Louis, this will take some doing and it won't be accomplished overnight.
but
sometimes sniper fire is the best weapon when dealing with a formable enemy. i have never agreed with the British way of fighting (huge force lined up fase to face with the enemy), the vietnam war taught us the a small number when organized right can be a formable force to deal with.

One of the big problems with quebec is that you don't need a license to sell cars - well that can be good or bad, but the problem is that there is no unity among sellers. You want to talk about looking after their own interests - there you have it.

A bunch of concerned citizens between the ages of 17 and 15, male, who want to drive really fast cars (for the most part) will have very little political clout - well actually no clout. Granted there are obviously older guys who like own delicas, cruisers, and some sports cars in quebec, but it is pretty minor compared to the sports cars - just take a drive in quebec and you will see what I mean. We pretty much all knew that this day would come and what would be the main causes for it.

Beating down transport canada was the easy part, beating the CCMTA - good luck, getting a bunch of guys with like interests together is not too bad as about 1-5 percent will actually do the job, but when the real people to lose money in quebec are curb siders and like someone said - have their own interests in mind then you will really need some good luck.

I am not saying it can't be done but a bunch of guys with a website and an agenda won't beat this monster, you need serious organization, political backing, and money - lots of it. A professional lobbyist would be the best option - but no one would want to pay that kind of money - and there will always be too many chiefs and not enough Indians - eh wayne?:)

Louis

curious,
are not businesses also private owners?

Agree with you 100%. The problems were around the inevitable infighting due to promoting their sales interest instead of the interest of owners. If we followed KISS in IVOAC's short history, then the only thing IVOAC would have focused on was threats to importing and registration and opening up importing to newer vehicles. But, we thought it was a good idea to be a one stop shop for all you import related info to draw more people in.

Personally, I'd love to be able to help finance a legal battle. But I don't have lots of extra money on hand. Don't think IVOAC has much money and am not sure who has control over what money there might be.

Actually IVOAC was pretty good at this in the early days. Its also useful to copy mother nature. When most animals are confronted with a threat they try their best to make them appear larger and deadlier than they are.

I agree, APVIG should take the lead and commit to working with them. At least one of their members has already done a lot of work on it.

$95/hr is a lot better than $400/hr but even then it is a lot if you don't have a war chest.

I think you could play an important role btw the Francophones and the Anglophones/Alophones. We need someone who is bilingual and can help us Anglos and Alos understand what is going on. What we don't need is some of the anti-Quebecer BS that seems to come up on IVOAC everytime the Quebec situation is discussed.

A business owner can own a personal vehicle but if his business is selling cars then he is scrutinized as a business owner, remember back to your amvic Nazi days.

you speak the truth, i never agreed with broadening our focus and was against it from the start but, sad to say, there were some that felt that this was needed to allow IVOAC to grow. what it did was divide us (my greatest fear came true) and it ended up with many of the core fighters leaving.
back to basics. if Daryl will stand up and commit to doing it. of course he could turn the ownership back and then we can proceed. but once again that is his choice.

i am sure there will be some choice complaints once the action is taken but the proof is there.

the nice thing about a hit and run battle is there isn't a huge cost incured. we find the weak spots and play on them. media loves that stuff. we might even contact CBC radio and shows like 22 min and the goofball report (can't remember his name right now but love his take on political injustices).

we can play the numbers game and i beleive that Louis still has his organization sitting there waiting in the wings. between us and APVIG we could launch a good pincer movement on the Quebec government. no government likes to be brought to the attention of the people.

ooooh, i can feel the same excitement i had when we started IVOAC the first time around. we just need the core figures back...

There has already been some good media. Especially that segment of Canada's Worst Driver which had the drivers do a course in a RHD Scargo:

Season 5, Episode 3 : CWD5 - Episode 3, Part 3 at about 3:00

I see APVIG has been busy - a lot busier the IVOAC.

From a funding point of view, other than a donation, I can offer this; I have a decent chance of a flourishing biz in selling mosquito killing system. Help me get these things selling and the fight can have 50% of profits. If that is uncalled for let me know.

I want to help with the cash but I can't donate thousands without a stronger source of revenue.

Thats a very kind offer!

95 an hour is a good deal, that is an associate rate and usually a partner will write off some of the associates time as they are learning and basically a newbie. $400.00 is a good price when you need a hard hitter and want results, usually they work hand in hand and the big guns are brought out after the grunt does all the leg work.

Heck no wish I could, I have 2 years work booked and will barely have time to wheel a few weekends this summer.

too bad, we could really have used your insight and backing.

Guys stop bashing quebec and go watch the Habs send the Caps home!

we are not bashing Quebec (this time), we are trying to support you.

(of course the Habs are going down for the count)
