**At least the first 5 minutes or so of questions to ask before you start spending $$ on mods.

Many have seen this guy, and he’s a talker...but the beginning minutes point to Qs that often aren’t asked before starting a build. A good reminder for me too, as I contemplate various changes on my own truck.
See what you think...

Stumbled on this very decent description of approaching a build. A good reminder for me too, as I contemplate various changes.

Just some goid questions & considerations for anyone contemplating what to add or not add. Video based on a 76 Series Cruiser (wow... seems like a great truck!), but applies to any of our trucks.

-Even watching the first 5 minutes of Qs is a great reminder.

I've seen this. The difficult part for me is having to listen to A-SPW taking forever to get to the point. He likes the sound of his voice.

Ya, he does...but he’s asking the right questions at the beginning. Flip it off after a few minutes if necessary. :)))

Great video...thanks for sharing!

But but... What if the answer to everything is EVERYTHING! 😂

Edit: let's be honest @Markuson you like 3:25 - impact to animals!

Generally you're defining those who put content on, and make money on YouTube. Can't have your cake and eat it too. This guy is far from the worst IMO.

Ya, and honestly, I was most interested in his first 5 minutes. Asking questions of what you plan to DO with your vehicles is key.

Beyond that...watch at your own risk. :)

I enjoy most of his videos, he's a great asset to this community, but I agree that he can get long winded at times. I look forward to seeing what he builds this year for his North American vehicle that he will use to travel across the states.

It's a 4WD Sprinter

Well that's a bummer, all of that talk about half-ton and HD trucks and he picks a van that has horrid off-road capabilities and less than stellar reliability. Boo, major boo!

To his credit, he doesn't only test the best. Maybe his intent is to figure out why so many shell out six plus figures for a van that's half an RV and not really able to get off the beaten path? :meh:

Touche

I will say that they are great for short term living and long distance travel with lots of gear. Never having to get out of your rig in inclement weather or when stealth camping is nice too. My buddy has one and he carries around his dirt bikes and mountain bikes, it basically gets him to the trail head the two-wheel machines take over from there. I can justify it for that kind of travel and use, but it's far from my top pick for a dedicated overland travel rig.

Seems like a pretty good "Overlander" rig to me.
He doesn't do any off-roading like the 4WDAction guys do. He's more into 'touring' as they call it over there and exploring. Neither uses are wrong, just personal preferences.
He does love to pontificate though. However that's his business.

Personally I didn’t much care what he concluded.

I just liked the questions being asked before proceeding.

I guess it just depends on what you define as "overlanding", personally I've come to dislike the word mostly because of what it has become with the instagram and youtube celebrities. For me personally I want a vehicle that is capable on it's own to take me down any trail I wish to explore from mild to wild, sustain life for a few days and then get me back home in one piece. The Sprinter is certainly not that vehicle mostly because it lacks the off-road chops to fulfill that rather large and important part haha. For "touring" and light "off-pavement" travel with the occasional obstacle thrown in I believe it's a great option and we may end up in one or something similar one day, but for now I still care far too much about the off-road capability part to handicap my ability to go where I please.

Good questions in the show. I envy that ARB store. But, if I had one close by, I’d be a lot poorer.

In November of last year I went to the ARB store in Brisbane. It was very cool and one of the sales guys spent about an hour with me answering my many questions. I was disappointed to learn that ARB does not stand for "Australian Roo Bars."

Fair enough.
However, the only reason I used that term is because his YouTube channel is called "4XOverland".
For what he uses his current Troop Carrier for, a Sprinter will do just fine., if not will be better suited.
For what you or I use our vehicles for, perhaps not.

Ya, my impression is his main thing involves covering a LOT of land rather than full articulation wheeling.
