Hi,

I'm considering replacing the current stock fixed seats in my 1991 PZJ77 LX. The first step would be to graft the suspension bases from a 1991 HZJ77 ZX and I would like to know if anyone has done this here? I don't currently have the bases at hand to measure and compare but exchanging pics with the seller showed some differences where the bases bolt into the floor and I would like to know if it is just a matter a fabricating some brackets to match the floor level differences or if it is more involved than I think.

Here are pics of the driver side floor anchor points in my PZJ which show height differences both front-to-back and left-to-right.

Thanks!

I did look up the part numbers (73800-60010 RH and 73810-60010 LH) and although they are apparently the same between the HZJ77 and PZJ77 I'm not sure the floor anchor points are identical between the LX and ZX models...

The is the center floor piece for a suspension seat base. My good friend Mot ordered me one for my conversion. Remember, you need not only the spring bases but also the bottom plate of seat for the base mount. The outboard leg of non suspension seat -seat bases are taller.

I am guessing it has been figured out already but the floor pan is different between the two options. There are some threads here where people cut/welded brackets to do a conversion.

If I remember correctly, there is also the issue of captive holes for the bolts in the floor pan being different between the two seating options.

Hi rick,

So this 57511-90K01 reinforcement needs to be added (or replaces some other part) in order for the suspension to bolt properly to the floor? I assume some of the other reinforcements currently hidden under the carpet also need to be removed for the base to be level?

I'm not sure what bottom plate you are referring to. I can see two tracks into which the seats slide back-front but no plate.

Thanks!

Hmm, the project sounds less interesting all of a sudden... I don't mind fabricating or adding stuff but don't want to hack or weld into the floor pan.

Thanks!

Sorry...the pics are gone but I remember the thread before the pics got removed. At least the steps are still there.

Suspension seat bases into non-suspension seat truck - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/suspension-seat-bases-into-non-suspension-seat-truck.382890/

Might I add that I have suspension bases in my 77 and personally I think the trouble involved to add them to a non-suspension base truck just isn't worth it. Mine stay in locked position and don't use them. I guess it is a matter of preference though.

first, take up carpet and look.
there is a center floor member spot welded to floor 18" long behind the shifter pan which is longer in non suspension and ideally is replaced with piece I suggested. The rear spot welded risers for old seat base also must come out. Also look back at photos of seat and look at the door side (outboard) leg of seat --the spring base. This must change to a flat style.

good news, the seat rails work
bad news the weld in nuts are not in place after this conversion for the mounts. Your carpet will also have a bulge where the old floor member extended to.

my review is if you got all the parts for free and are bored do it. If you must pay more than $150 for bases etc I would skip it.
