I've only put on 1100 km on the vehicle since I bought it, so I'm still learning the nuances of this particular truck and its different vibrations etc. Yesterday, when leaving from work, I started it up, let the oil pressure build, and drove away slowly. I heard what sounded like "two cats fighting in a coffee can" coming from mid-ship/rear portion of the vehicle. This continued intermittently for two-three minutes and then stopped. I wasn't able to get out of second gear (because of traffic, not mechanical). I haven't been able to reproduce it since. In the short time that it happened I was unable to find any triggers that would incur the noise again. The manual transmission functions as it should. But I was reading here on Mud that there might be a weak point with the flywheel in this model (thanks Petzel) and that others have seen failure at around 150k. I have 156k on the odometer now. What are some of the other symptoms with flywheel blowing springs etc.? My transmission is the R151. Hopefully, this is just something wrong in the exhaust, as it is making the high pitched "put put put" above 2400rpm that sounds like I'm Captaining a vehicle out of the "Jetsons". Any advice would be appreciated.
