Puzzled by the engine oil leak, did anyone experience this?

07 gx470 approaching 200k miles, leak appears to come from passenger side behind the engine, and ends up down where engine and transmission met on the outside, but definitely starts much higher. Leak itself does not appear to be much but cause for concern of course. Any ideas on what could be wrong? Thank you

This may be stupid but it could be the o-ring where the dipstick tube attaches?

When I was chasing down rear main seal, my mechanic suggested I DIY that first as a cheap way to potentially rule out the rear main. It did end up being the rear main seal for me, but it was like $5 and 20 minutes to try.

You could try tightening the bolts a bit, first. But I think since they are right above the exhaust manifolds, the gaskets just get dry and brittle over the years and simply crack.
I just had mine replaced when I had the timing belt done and while he was in there, he did the plugs and what ever else was needed, as well.

in this case it starts much higher, based on where visible in picture, so it seems at least

Try re-torquing the valve cover bolts (nuts?) degrease the engine and see if it comes back.
