Bought these new 6 lug hubs from Southwest trailer supply, went on great but seems that the CDN wheels have a smaller backspace, these are 10.5 wide tires, not sure of backspace but I also put my factory split rims on and they stick out some as well, not as extreme as these. I plan on running 235/85-R16 mud terrains or somewhere around that size but I guess I am going to have to alter the fenders wider or something.

That's about what mine looks like after I put on some lug pattern adapters. My initial thought was to get wider fenders too but have been happy running it as is. I may eventually widening the whole trailer frame and tub about 6" since I wouldn't mind the extra space and then the fenders would look right.

Its safe to run as is for awhile but i would recommend widening the fenders. There have been several cases where guys running trailers with out proper coverage have had there rear windows busted out from rocks flying off the trailer. Also if you get into any kind of mud or wet dirt roads your trailer will be completely covered (who wants to set up a tent thats totaly covered in mud)

I had the same issue with mine but have since widened the stock fenders its much easier then it sounds to do and can be done in an afternoon with just a grinder and a welder. (something a fab shop could easily and cheaply do for you)

I may try fender flares after I get the factory toyota rims on and the 9.5" wide tires on and see how it looks. The canadian rims must have alot more backspacing?

Don't know what you're running, but you should be able to get some IFS wheels for next to nothing and that should bring them back in a lot.

alot of guys here run factory wheels on there traielr so they only have to carrie one spare should the trailer get a flat, also if worse comes to worse and your out deep you can leave the trailer and have the 3rd spare to get help

The original M101 rims have a high positive offset (or negative) compare to normal rims/wheel. It is for this exact reason i kept the original rims. It suck not being able to swap tire from the truck but unless you fabricate large fenders or shorten the axle tube. There is no real other solutions.

I personnaly would not fabricate wider fenders, but cut the axle to 2" between the spring support and drum on each side. shortening the axle should be pretty easy to do, it is basicly only a 3" tube, or order a new axle (just the tube with spindle( if you don't feel like cutting and welding.

exactly why I wanted the hubs to only carry one spare. I put my split rims on and they stuck out a little so I think with some fender flares it may workout fine for I am going tall and skinny on the cruiser so want it to look somewhat the same? These rims I just put on it are much wider than stock.

Wait until you can test the trailer with the same tire has the cruiser, but no mather what you put there it will stick out. IMO flares on a trailer is ugly!

yeah I dont want them sticking out, I wasnt expecting it when I installed the hubs? i thought the rims would go right on but much to my surprise? we will see

Which hubs did you go with? There was a post with a link to some replacement drums that had 6 on 5.5 but cant find it now. I will be doing this once i start on my trailer..

Thanks

Dave
