I should know the difference but I don't.

The front bumper on my LC is bent. Rather than replace it with an OEM one, I thought about getting an ARB "Bull Bar" (at least that is what it is called in the picture on Slee's site).

Then I read a post about a "push bar" doing nothing but causing damage to the hood in an accident and that it should be removed.

What is the difference (or their is none)?

If I get an ARB front bumper (AKA Bull Bar) with the tubes across the top is this a bad idea - and can I cause EXTRA damage to my cruiser if I hit something?

Noo the ARB bumper is made of hard steel. If you hit someone with that bumper nothing will happen to your bumper at all cause it is sooo strong. That is what they are known for. The reason why the pushbar is bad is because it is weak and not connected to the bumper so when hit it bends and crushes the hood. The arb bar is amazing and one of the first things one should invest in when buying an 80 cruiser. Just ask any of the guys here and they will tell you. GET THE ARB! And good luck!

Oh and don't worry. That is what the board is for is learning. Cause there are a lot of people out there that want to ask the same thing probably but are too scared to!

This is what typyically a "push" bar is (aka nudge bar)

Thanks! I appreciate that!

I don't mind paying for the ARB bumper, but the shipping is going to KILL me (I live in South Jersey). Does anyone know someone on the East coast that sells this bumper?

I just can't see spending $200 to ship a $600 bumper.

Well i know I will get ragged on for this but is there a four wheel parts in jersey? Because I do not trust them with my cruiser but they sometimes do have good deals on parts and they might be near you.

Oh and if not that then you will probably have to pay the shipping no matter what. It is a lot but its worth it. Most of the time no parts store will carry that specific bar so you will have to pay shipping anyway. So I would just spring for the shipping cause it will be hard to find one without shipping it.

97,
you can go to arb's home page and look for the dealer nearest you. FWIW these have a corporate price lock from arb so you are not gonna find any "deals" well unless you by a red one drive 120 miles in a civic to pick it up and have it powder coated..........

Sure you can find deals. You would be surprised how stores give deals and some don't. And if you don't mind buying used you can post a thread in the parts wanted section of the forum or go on ebay for deals!

Looks like he would end the auction now for $500. Do the ARB come powder coated black? So he had that one powder coated and cleart-coated a "silvery-grey"...

Oh and "stuck in GA" your post count is soaring!!! :flipoff2: easy does it...

As others have posted by now -- you will have no problems with the top bar/bars on the ARB bending back into your rig.

These bumpers are VERY stout. I recall quite a few posting that they've had high-speed deer strikes with no noticeable damage to the bumper.

If you want serious front end protection, get the ARB. For hard-core wheeling, it works well too (but others like slee's own bumper work a little better).

If shipping from CO to NJ to too high, there are a few business on the east coast you can work with -- check ARB's site for dealers near you.
