Pulled aircleaner to get at ps pump..

Silver tube of bottom broken, where does it go and can I replace it?
. Also found loose part chasing lost extension, seems related...

Update: silver tube is called "Hot air tube" on city racer, the sell stainless hose clamps to fit too.

City Racer sells the tube. The elbow has a mesh attached that is not easily repaired. I used some header tape to patch some holes, but I don't expect that it will stay attached permanently.

Where does the elbow attach?

Also the tab broke off at the hole, what's the elbow called, so I can try to get a used one that's not broken?

the elbow attaches to the front horn for #1 cylinder exhaust manifold, it is supposed to help with cold startup, there is a flapper in the air cleaner that lets hot air from around the exhaust manifold enter the intake air, then should close when at operating temp

The mesh tends to disintegrate from rust and age. It has some steel woven in to it. It's the front heat shield and harder to find them in somewhat usable condition than the rear heat shields that are full sheet steel. This front heat shield would be a good part to reproduce for those with the abilities.

Thanks everyone, also found this, which helped.

It seems to imply the hot air stuff is part of the smog stuff, if it does not get smog tested, can I just plug the hole the tube connects to on air cleaner

I saw where the heat shield goes, honestly thought it was a rotted ground strap, so little was left of it.

Okay found this diagram, seems to help the cruiser run better in very cold environments.

I recently bought the City Racer flexible tube with the plan to remake my own heat riser. I have a mostly intact one that’s about to disintegrate that I can use as a guide.

I also need to find a replacement for the HIC valve. Shortly after I bought my ‘85 I noticed the HIC diaphragm was always drawing hot air. So I unplugged the vacuum hose and plugged it with a golf tee.

Does anyone have a replacement for the HIC valve?

I seem to recall the mid 70's version was all steel, I think I've got one hiding on a shelf.
