PTO air compressor?

I've got the old fire engine 75 and it's got a PTO. And it does nothing. Are they mountable options for one? Figure if it's there. Might as well use it for something
 
It would obviously take some work, but a York compressor would be a great add.
 
Why would you want to run an accessory off the transfer case when you can just run it all the time off electricity? :lol:
 
A york compressor would work best connected straight to the engine's accessory belt. I think the PTO is most commonly used for drilling.

There was a BJ75 with a PTO powered compressor for sale on Nettiauto a while ago. Not quite a York though, the compressor and air tank took up the entire bed. I believe it was used for sandblasting or spray painting at construction sites. You can get large compressor blocks quite cheaply from China if you want something similar. If you don't want anything bigger than a York though it would be better to power it straight from the engine, or get an electric compressor.
