It got some post trail love, ready for high school DD next week. We will pull it in the barn to cool off from TX heat and give it a Griot’s treatment.

That aint the gold rush jackpot. Brass glitter.

We gonna replace fluids and let it rip. Gears engage well. Occasional chatter. We will see if it continues or gets worse. This could have been from periodic non synchro gear rowing in its past life. 3 spd. First time we are draining the tranny fluid. We will check drain plug to see if “chunks” grow at next fluid change.

@Cowboy45 and I did the old process of elimination to find the clutch chatter. It did it in idle stopped with gear in neutral😁. Told us pressure plate adjustment was off so we adjusted clutch slave rod. Money. We took it on a stress test run for father/son breakfast in 105F heat, 80 mph, stop and go traffic. Did great. Going to order new clutch slave, softline, and rod. The one on it has seen its better days.

So we continued to get some grinding noise even in neutral. Decided to yank tranny/xfer and have a look. Pilot bearing was roached. Needle bearing type. Bearings had scattered and dug a little pit in the nose cone of the input shaft. Hate the design of these bearings. The needles dont have a sleeve in between the input shaft and the bearing! Due to the little “pit” in the input shaft snout, we decides not to go back with a needle bearing type. Pit would gouge the new needle bearing. Went with the solid brass bushing which is fairly common. Also did a new Koyo throwout bearing. I was planning to use the throwout bearing that came with the kit buy was so flimsy chinesium.

@Cowboy45 got at it. Good weekend job.

He now knows how to replace a clutch!
