Over the past few days I have experienced great fear and relief on my 100. Sunday night when pulling out of a parking lot, I lost power and it sounded like I was dragging a giant metal anchor underneath me. It almost felt like I was high centered for a moment, but I was able to get into neutral and roll backwards into the parking lot and out of traffic.

Park wouldn't hold without the emergency brake. I had terrible fears of a transmission that had exploded.

Fast forward to today, I am picking up my LC with a replaced wheel flange and CV axle. So, maybe this is obvious to everyone but me - but this was a relatively simple fix to what seemed like it would be a big problem in the moment.

i think the drive flanges in 100 series should be a periodic replacement item, like a timing belt. 100k miles or 1000 off road miles. there's the interval. now I just need to write to Toyota...
