For those looking for the backordered 555 lower ball joints, Autozone has them under part # SB3812.

As others have mentioned they still come in a Duralast box, however they're still the 555 stamped part.

Good find. The tough one to find remains to be the upper ball joint. I'm currently wondering if I should just go with the nitro set or not.

Replace as needed or is this a "do it by xxx miles"? I have 245k on WC, small tear in one of the boots but no signs of any issues, how long can these things possibly last?

As long as you have no play in the ball joint you are good. But take care of the boot otherwise the joint will be gone fast.
