All,

I am fixing to rebuild my power steering pump and have a question about the phillips screw that screws into the flow control valve.

My rebuild candidate is missing this screw, so I will get a new one.

The screw is supposed to bottom out in the base that the spring sits on - correct?

What Phillips screw?


I have rebuild 4 of these and do not know what you are referring too. (?)

Here is what I am talking about - see #7 - Flow Control Valve Ass'y in pics below. Pump I am rebuilding does not have these. I cannot see this location on the pump that is on my 40.

do you have a pic of what you actually have???
 
Here's the instruction from the FJ60 manual. It looks like you are supposed to measure the differnce in the lengths of the fixed ring and rotor (rotor should be longer.

That measurement is why I chose not to bother with a rebuild on my pump. I had something like 0.025" over the acceptable 0.0024".
