I just got in from JK Customs and shot some pictures in the daylight. Jason and I worked 2 hard days in Austin and made some really cool additions to the truck.
The first thing done was making a set of seat brackets for the PRP seat. These Jason knocked out in 30 mins.
The next thing was the front bumper, this took a little longer. I had a design in mind but not sure how it would look without actually seeing it. Jason started cutting and welding and with his input, the front turned better than I had hoped. We kept adding this and shaping that and 6 hours later we were finished with the front bumper.
Next morning we started on the steps which were intended to be slider/step combos. These took a long time to make becuse we wanted to ties them into the existing body/frame mounts. Jason has really turned out to be a master bender getting everyting right the first time. The design is similar to the fenders with 1.5" DOM seamless .120 wall tubing bent to match the original lines but much wider to match the wide fenders . They will be LineX coated to match Monday.
The last thing we did Friday night was to add some tubing to the rear bumper to give it a finished, planned look, and to give me somewhere to throw a strap if needed. We started at 8:00PM and were finished around 9:30 PM, I was getting a little past tired, but found the energy to load the truck, pay the man and head back towards Ft Worth. I got in last night at 1:00 AM. Heres the latest

I never thought of puting a bench seat in the front; that's cool

First real drive just took place. About 10 miles. Everything worked as it should with nothing dramatic happening. The fuel sender seal leaks some but other than that, its all 80, except 1 thing. I stopped at the scales and weighed it.
4240 (2500 Fr, 1740 R) with 24 gals fuel, without my fat a$$ in it. Oh yea, the seat works awesome for 3.
What does an 80 weigh trail ready?

At the November meeting Jim brought his scales and Barb's 80 weighed in at just over 6,100#. Matt's 60 was 5,038# (compared to my Taco at 4,972# :eek:)
 
Mine weighs 6,240 lbs.




The gasket is a 77169-60010
 
Thanks Dan for the part # but on the aftermarket tank I need a thicker gas resistant gasket material to make one with. Mine fits but my tank guy cut a rectangular hole for an oval sender so it doesn't have the oval area to seat up to the raised area on the factory gasket.
6240 huh. Dang those things are heavy.
Chris, I am a little shocked that Matts 60 weighed barely more than your Taco. That doesn't seem right.

Well remember I have a serious front bumper, the axle has 4 links of .43" wall tubing, the entire front half of the frame is boxed/plated with 1/4" plate. a full bellypan of 3/16", full bedcage, sliders, rear bumper, lots of tubing cross support on the frame, crossmembers made of 1/4' plate and my fat ass. :D

Most of the Taco's that were weighed and would be considered 'trial ready' (armored) were about 800-1,000 lbs lighter. That's why my truck survived the collision so well, I only lost a hub...

On the other hand, Matt's truck is un-armored...
