Amazing, simply amazing!! This is an awesome thread, been watching from the beginning. You've done excellent work on this build. Can't wait to see the final pics!

BTW like the seat choice, the color goes well w/ the sage.

Truck is lookin' good...Is it gonna make Moab? I'm trying to get there myself (sans truck).

Cheers,
Matt

stunning work, simpley stunning....... beautiful truck!!

6 days.....no pictures! How are we supposed to function correctly? :D

Wait, stop the press. I don't know you fellers' personally, but in that last pic, the two fellers' on the left are twins that are watching the guy weld!! Is that you Gary? do you have a twin brother?

I am ashamed to say that the fata$$ in the brown shirt would be me. The other guy has the same dumb look on his face as we were having a laugh at the welders expense.
No pics the last few days but I have a bunch coming. I got the glass in the windshield, windshield mounted, crank out vent system working (what a pain in the a$$ that was), and made some backwards progress on the dash. I lowered the steering column 1.5 inches so when the wheel is tilted all the way down, its where I like it. By doing this I now have a gap in the dash panel I made that I can't live with. I also did not like the 80 series ignition switch syicking way out from the dash, so that was removed with all of its bracketry. I am now using a marine waterproof ign switch panel mounted in a whole new dash. I also added some material to the bottom of the panel to cover the wiring better. All of this was done quick courtesy of my budiies water jet cutting machine. He scanned my hand made dash, made all the holes perfect, added the material in the areas I wanted then cut it all in about 1 hour. I kept the program if anyone wants a dash panel made for a 65. Pics this afternoon.

i like how you are willing to backtrack and redo something so that it is right instead of just living with it

Man, that is funny. I looked at the one picture that showed that and told Ben to email you and tell you that looks like sh*#&$t and you have to fix it. :D:D:D:D:D:D

Just was not your style.

Maybe by Project Z you are going to build that beater truck :D

Psst, at least I got some line-x in the back of my project :D

Pis this afternoon.

You've been in the bathroom for a long time. If your afternoon "Pis" is complete, please post up a picture of the FZJ-45.

:D

My dash hasn't been painted yet so a couple of pics of the windshield will have to suffice. I did get the 3 windows into the rear roof section, but not much to see. Also raised the seat 2 inches. Mucho better.

Well I drove around today for about 1 hour. Out in the fields, over some RR tracks and everything worked well. Well at least right up to when I tried to climb my retaining wall with the left front tire. The Croc Country hubs did not stand a chance. The right front literally exploded right off the truck. I have never seen such hub carnage. Pieces actually flew off leaving about 1/2 the hub intact. I put on a set of Warns that I had and it went right up. The Croc hubs came with a bunch of stuff I bought from a guy in Aus. He said they were made by Superwinch. No way.

I also pulled the front sway bar off. The truck drives the same or better. A little softer in front.

Factory are the way to go, have seen many aftermarket [except Warn] do what yours has done.

Once you sorted out the hubs, that must have been a great afternoon drive! Must feel strange to have built the thing you're driving .. amazing!

It was a great day. It will take some miles for me to put a lot of trust in my build. It was the same way with my 62, and I'm sure I will get over it. The truck feels really stable and goes down the road really nice. The AC blows ice cold too which is a plus.

Gary, I got an extra set of fine-spline drive plates if you're interested, just ping me. No charge for you.
