I always just use purple stuff or something similar.. let it sit, and follow it with a stiff nylon bristle brush...
(Course, that led to me pulling the tub for paint)
i use goo gone on my driveway to clean up the 60s markings.

I'll bolt on the extra motor stuff this weekend and get the radiator positioned..

I went and made a Stock 89 mustang VSS hook up to my split tcase.
First thing was to get a ferd VSS, some copper square tubing, sheet metal and some hose of good size.
I called Marlin and got one of his 8" speedo extensions..

The copper tubing shoud fit snugly on the VSS. I had to take the tiniest bit of material off the tip of the VSS.

With a propane torch and some brazing rod I solidified the cut end of the speedo cable.

Little bit of fancy grinding of the cable end and it fits into the copper tubing..
I also brazed the speedo cable to teh square tubing. This way it won't come off easily and I can still replace the VSS without issue.

I brazed the other cut end of the speedo cable just like I did the first, ground it into a square tip so it fit into the opposite end of the VSS.
Add the rubber tubing to protect the spinning parts and roll the sheetmetal around it to add some rigidity/protection.
Done..
