Performed the same install for my '24 LX600, and ran into EXACT same issues, line-for-line. I chalked it up to (possible) roof/bar layout differences between years, but a PITA nonetheless. (Luckily?) They included enough extra bolts of the various lengths, that I didn't have to purchase anything additional to get it installed....Also, the install documentation has a number of errors in it. They say to measure 16 inches from the windshield, where as the proper install location is 16 inches back from the front of the roof rail on the LX. They also say to tighten the plus nuts to 20 foot inches. I even called support to confirm and they said yes because they read the documentation which is wrong. About 8-10 foot pounds was about right. 20 foot inches was not even enough force to get them started. They also say to use the phillips screws for the front foot because it is closer to the rail, but they did not include any of these with the install kit.
Also added the side panels to my '24 600, and have some additional gear to mount.... One mod I did that I love was the Outer Limit Supply Co. quick-release mount + Nanuk case (Amazon) (= much cheaper than the $350 full OLSC solution). Was super-easy, and can be a VERY simple way to grab and go for differing outings (additional base plates that can be mounted to different cases (one for fishing, one first aid, etc, etc) are $70)....This past week, I added the side panel and some Rotopax gas containers. I had intended to use two 3 gallon but the forward 3 gallon came to far forward and blocked the rear door from opening. So, at least this gives me an extra 4 gallons in this configuration.
I really like this solution, but for CBI @ 1/2 price (and can't think of any reason I'd want to remove it later....)....Dissent has released their no drill roof rack for $2k.
